UCSD Tzu Ching

Tzu Chi means "Compassion and Relief" and is an international non-profit humanitarian relief organization. Meanwhile, Tzu Ching means "Compassionate Youth" and is the collegiate version of Tzu Chi where college students come together to help their local communities.

Sharing my passion for art while helping others is something I’m very passionate about. Some art related things I've done for this organization include:

  • Illustrating characters, creating a logo, and designing marketing materials using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

  • Compiling promotional and music videos using Adobe Premiere Pro and iMovie

  • Documenting activities through extensive amounts of photography and editing with Adobe Lightroom

UCSD Tzu Ching - Logo & Characters

Inspired by fellow chapters across the nation, I designed our own logo for the UCSD Tzu Ching chapter to establish our branding on campus.

Warren Bear, King Triton, and Sun God (from left to right) are all wearing our Tzu Ching uniform and represent the different personalities of our members. Included in the logo is our motto in English and in Chinese, "Act with compassion and wisdom; learn from and inspire each other."

Quarter Sheet FLyers

With the busy and fast paced life of a student, an eye-catching flyer is essential to capturing attention and increasing event participation on our large campus. These flyers were designed to stand alone and provide a quick explanation of our organization.

UCSD Tzu Ching - Business Cards

In order to provide an effective elevator pitch and capture interest in our organization, I created a business/contact card for our student leaders and members to use.

The front of the design depicts an illustration of our iconic blue and white uniform, which represents embodying a "Mind as broad as the blue sky and our thoughts and actions as pure as the white clouds." The back of the design shows our logo, contact information, social media platforms (Facebook, Wordpress, and Gmail), and our Tzu Ching Motto.

Tea Time - Facebook Event Cover Photos

The above designs marketed a new series where members met casually for meaningful discussions, thought-provoking conversations, and further explorations into various Tzu Chi topics over cups of tea and vegetarian snacks.

Videos

we're tzu Ching BEcause... - UCSD Tzu Ching Snippet

The Houston Tzu Ching chapter requested a quick video on "why we're Tzu Ching". This was filmed, edited, and sent within 24 hours of the request.

Three Bows - Instructional Video

This video teaches all members how to follow Tzu Chi customs to pay respects to Buddha and Dharma Master Cheng Yen for their teachings in the form of the Three Bows.

Sign Language music Videos

As part of Tzu Chi's Humanistic Culture mission, sign language is used to practice inclusivity of the deaf and hard of hearing community and to dismantle language barriers. The videos above capture performances that are usually put together in large scale to perform for others to inspire hope and positivity as well as sharing what we call "Great Love".

Some signs are informal sign language and not all words are signed. These adaptations support ease of learning sign language in Tzu Chi.
